Many customers do not know how to choose an o-ring when purchasing it, but the specifications of the o-ring are mainly directly related to the material, size, tolerance, and compression. The following is the experience of Haisheng Rubber for everyone to share:
1. When selecting o-ring specifications, first determine the material of the o-ring. At present, in industrial parts, the materials of o-rings are NBR nitrile rubber, NR natural rubber, CR neoprene, EPDM EPDM. Rubber, HNBR hydrogenated nitrile rubber, SILICOME silicone, FKM, VITON, fluorine rubber, FLS silicone fluorine rubber, PU polyurethane, SBR styrene butadiene rubber, Buna butadiene rubber, acrylic rubber ACM, PTFE, polytetrafluoroethylene and so on. Each of the above materials has its own purpose and purpose, including oil resistance, chemical resistance, high and low temperature resistance, wear resistance, and so on. Therefore, when choosing the o-ring specifications, you must know where this product is used, what it needs to withstand, what role it plays, and its service life, so that you can choose the o-ring material you need in a targeted manner.
2. O-ring specifications are expressed by outer diameter, inner diameter, and wire diameter. As long as the dimensions of the inner diameter and wire diameter are indicated on our engineering drawings, the outer diameter is equal to the inner diameter + 2 * wire diameter. Or just mark the dimensions of outer diameter and wire diameter. You can choose between the two.
3. The tolerances of o-ring specifications mainly include tolerances on inner diameter and tolerances on wire diameter. The tolerance of o-ring specifications mainly depends on the size. The larger the size, the greater the tolerance. For example, the tolerance standard for o-rings with an inner diameter of 0.05 to 1.79mm is +/- 0.10MM, and the tolerance standard for O-rings with a wire diameter of 0.05 to 1.79 MM is +/- 0.07MM.
4. The compression amount is very important when selecting the o-ring specifications, because the selection is incorrect, otherwise it will not be sealed when the product is assembled, or it will be too tight when assembled, so that it does not play the required role of the product. Then how do we choose the compression amount of the o-ring specifications, here is a reference for you: The compression amount of the o-ring is generally mainly determined by the hardness and material of the o-ring. If the o-ring hardness is 70 degrees, Then the compression of the o-ring is equal to 20%. Of course, the lower the hardness of the o-ring, the greater the compression of the o-ring, which is mainly used in low-pressure places. Then the higher the hardness of the o-ring, the smaller the compression amount of the o-ring. It is mainly used in environments with high pressure, pressure resistance and small resistance. By analogy, you can get the compression of any hardness o-ring you need.
